Elisabeth Schneider-Schneiter was born in Basel in 1964 and is a lawyer and politician from the centrist party (formerly the CVP). She has been a member of the National Council since 2010. She is also President of the Basel Chamber of Commerce, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Raiffeisenbank Basel and a member of the Board of Economiesuisse.

Elisabeth Schneider-Schneiter completed her law degree at the University of Basel in 1991. She lives in Biel-Benken, is married and has two children.
