Prof. Dr. Dr. Michel Friedman

Jurist, publicist, philosopher

‘Only when we accept that our imaginary land of milk and honey, our land of security, has burnt down, can we act.‘

The way we have been doing business for the last thirty years is changing. We sense that Europe's strength is crumbling, if not disintegrating, and we face the challenges of an increasingly isolated Europe at all levels. Today, we need to find ways to respond constructively to these challenges.

Michel Friedman is one of the most influential and renowned German-speaking intellectuals and critics of social developments. He is considered to be something like the conscience of Germany and criticises the laconicism of Germany and Europe. At the Annual Meeting 2024, Friedman will share his assessment of the state of Europe and outline the responsibility that entrepreneurs have in strengthening European values and thus our way of life, our liberal democracies, social cohesion and individual freedoms.

Prof. Dr jur. Dr phil. Julien Michel Friedman, born in Paris in 1956, is a Franco-German lawyer, philosopher, publicist, author and presenter. He is an honorary professor at the Frankfurt University of Applied Science and was Managing Director of the Centre for Applied European Studies (CAES). Michel Friedman has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the ‘Sites of German Democratic History‘ and the ‘Jewish Museum Berlin‘ since October 2022.
