We connect Europe's future leaders

We want to connect European leaders of tomorrow - convinced that dialogue with people from different "bubbles" and generations is the way to strengthen Europe. To engage in these important dialogues during the Annual Meetings, we invite 50 selected future leaders (25-45 years old) from all over Europe to participate in the multi-day Basecamp programme in Lucerne every year.

During the stay in Lucerne,

  • the participants from different countries and fields network with each other,
  • the group develops recommendations and solutions for current and future challenges in the fields of business, science, society and politics in various workshops and discussions, and
  • Basecamp members receive new ideas and insights for their personal, professional and entrepreneurial development at the Annual Meeting.

The dialogue between personalities who do not come from the same country, generation or bubble has great value in itself. It opens up the necessary space to form new alliances and develop new ideas together.

Staying connected - Fellows Community

After Basecamp, participants stay connected with eachother as members of the so-called «Fellows Community». In this way, we also connect the different classes with each other and bring them together at the annual Fellows Dinner on the occasion of the Annual Meeting in Lucerne.

«Impact Workshop Democracy»

Together with the Mercator Foundation Switzerland, we organised the second "Impact Workshop Democracy" for the second time at the Basecamp 2024. In a hackathon, participants will develop low-threshold and feasible projects that make an effective contribution to the preservation of democracy in Switzerland and Europe.

The highlight of the programme is the session during the Annual Meeting. Here, the participants present their projects to the audience, especially executives and decision-makers from the business world. The winning project will then be presented on the main stage in front of the entire audience.

What participants say about Basecamp

I must  emphasize that this initiative surpassed all expectations, holding the  potential to catalyze genuine impact for a more resilient democracy in  Europe.

Aggeliki Galani
Mexoxo,  Community Manager

The Basecamp was the side program of #LucerneDialogue23 , and during the conference as young leaders, we found an incredible chance to present and discuss our ideas as well as hear their thoughts about how we can work for Europe's future.

Selin Yilmaz
Young Atlantic  Treaty Association, President

We  collaborated on a hackathon aimed at examining how businesses can help  reinforcing democracy across Europe, a truly impactful initiative and I must  say, I was deeply impressed by the achievements and insights of my fellow  colleagues.

Kristian Jacobsen
ISS Facility  Services A/S, Division Director

The  energy, ideas, and connections forged during this time were nothing short of  astounding. If this is the caliber of leadership driving Europe forward, the  future is undoubtedly in good hands.

Anett Numa
Accelerate Estonia,  Head of Government Relations

It was a  tremendous opportunity to meet like minded peers. Connecting with fellows, it  became abundantly clear that the ties that bind us are far stronger than the  differences that may seem to separate us.

Michal Sobczyk
EDP Renewables,  Head of Regulation and Markets

I’m  grateful for this experience, bringing home new project ideas, enriched  knowledge, and an expanded network of peers dedicated to shaping our  continent’s future. As I continue my work in Brussels and within Momentum,  these learnings will undoubtedly influence my approach to fostering a fairer,  more democratic Europe.

Evelin Hornyák
European  Parliament, Senior political and policy advisor
