Prof. Dr. Thomas Hansueli Zurbuchen ist ein renommierter Professor, Astrophysiker und Leiter der Weltraumprogramme an der ETH Zürich. In Fachkreisen wird er als "Dr. Z" bezeichnet und hatte die längste ununterbrochene Amtszeit als Wissenschaftsleiter bei der NASA von 2016 bis 2022 inne. Als stellvertretender NASA-Administrator für das Science Mission Directorate war er verantwortlich für sämtliche Aspekte in Bezug auf Führung und wissenschaftliche Belange im Bereich Raumfahrt.

Zurbuchen hat einen Abschluss (MS) sowie einen Doktortitel (PhD) in Physik/Astrophysik von der Universität Bern erworben und arbeitete zwei Jahrzehnte lang als Forscher, Lehrer und Innovator an der University of Michigan. Darüber hinaus gründete er das größte Entrepreneurship-Programm an amerikanischen Universitäten - das Michigan Center for Entrepreneurship -und ist Mitglied der International Academy of Astronautics.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Zurbuchen

Prof. Dr. Thomas Hansueli Zurbuchen is a renowned professor, astrophysicist, and head of space programs at ETH Zurich. Known as "Dr. Z" among experts in the field, he held the longest continuous tenure as Science Director at NASA from 2016 to 2022. As NASA's Deputy Administrator for the Science Mission Directorate, he was responsible for all aspects related to leadership and science issues in space.

Zurbuchen holds an MS and Ph.D. in Physics/Astrophysics from the University of Bern and worked for two decades as a researcher, teacher, and innovator at the University of Michigan. He also founded the largest entrepreneurship program at American universities - the Michigan Center for Entrepreneurship - and is a member of the International Academy of Astronautics.
